Democrat wave washes out Hamilton GOP

Carabelli Jr., Martin, and Tighe win to give Democrats control of Hamilton Council

Some called it the “Curse of Christie”, others the “Trump Effect”, but no matter what you called it – Democrat challengers  Anthony Carabelli Jr., Jeff Martin a Rick Tighe defeated 12 year Councilman Dennis Pone, newly appointed Councilwoman Dina Thornton and Former Trenton Councilman Gino Melone.

GOP dominance in Hamilton started back in 2005 when Dennis Pone, Tom Goodwin, and Dave Kenny defeated three Democrats to take control of the council.

Carrabelli Jr. son of former Freeholder Anthony Carabelli was the top vote-getter with 13753 votes.

Other Races

Senator Linda Greenstein, Assemblymen Wayne DeAngelo and Dan Benson easily retained their legislative seats topping Hamilton Councilwoman Ileana Schirmer who was challenging Greenstein for Senate, while Kristian Stout and Steve Uccio vyed for a spot in the assembly.

No changes occurred at the County level as Sheriff Jack Kemler, Freeholder John Cimino and Lucy Walters smashed their opponents in both Hamilton and throughout Mercer County.

Susan Lombard was re-elected to the  Hamilton Township School Board and will be joined by newcomer Cameron Cardinale and former board member Albert Gayzik
