Forecasted Temperatures Cancel Hamilton’s Town Hall Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Santa Will Still Visit Greenwood Elementary Students this Friday

Although the sub-freezing temperatures forecasted for Friday afternoon have caused Hamilton Township’s Town Hall Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony to be canceled, Santa is still ‘coming to town’ for an elementary school in Hamilton.

Hamilton Township’s Town Hall Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony has traditionally been held in the afternoon so that students at neighboring Greenwood Elementary School could stand outside and watch the ceremony from across the street. However, temperatures forecasted for Friday afternoon will be too cold to allow the students to be able to stand outside and safely enjoy the ceremony.

Despite the ceremony cancellation, Greenwood Elementary School students will still receive a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus along with Hamilton Township Mayor Kelly Yaede on Friday afternoon.

“Although the cold temperatures will not allow students to be able to safely enjoy an outside ceremony this year, that won’t stop Santa and Mrs. Claus from visiting them indoors that day,” explains Mayor Kelly Yaede.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be joined by Mayor Yaede to pass out candy canes to the students inside the school.

The Town Hall Christmas Tree, which was generously donated by resident Cindy McKenna, will be fully lit beginning on Friday evening. Residents or motorists traveling past Hamilton’s Municipal Building on Greenwood Avenue can enjoy the beautifully lit Christmas Tree during the rest of the holiday season.
