Hamilton Democrats nominate Carabelli Jr., Tighe and Martin to run for Council

On Monday evening the Hamilton Township Municipal Democratic Committee made their decision and chose the trio of Anthony Carabelli Jr., Rick Tighe and Jeff Martin to run for the three Council seats up for grabs in the upcoming November election that will decide if the majority stays within the GOP hands or the Democrats will take voting control.

There were seven candidates vying for three seats to appear on the ballot as party-backed Democrats for Hamilton Township Council.

“This is the first time in almost 20 years we’ve had so many qualified individuals put themselves forward to run,” said Barbara Plumeri, chairwoman of the Hamilton Democratic Party. “It is a testament to the growing strength of the Democratic Party in Hamilton.”

Anthony Carabelli Jr. is the son of recently retired former Freeholder Anthony Carabelli Sr.  He currently serves as the Business Advocate for the County of Mercer’s Office of Economic Development and Sustainability.

Rick Tighe is Investment Advisor Representative working at Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC

Jeff Martin a trial attorney for Farmers Insurance and former Captain in the US Air Force from 2009-2013. He is a graduate of TCNJ and Rutgers School of Law.

This is a trio of experienced professionals who have demonstrated their commitment to their community by stepping up to run for office,” Plumeri said. “We look forward to our candidates improving communication with residents, ensuring that everyone has a voice in their government and bringing common sense fiscal management and sound economic development to the Township,”Plumeri added.

The Hamilton Township Republican Party will hold their nominating convention on Monday, March 27th.  The GOP Hamilton Council members expected to run for re-election this year are Councilmen Dennis Pone and Dave Kenny, and recently appointed Councilwoman Dina Thornton.
