Hamilton Police make arrest in attempted homicide

On Monday, April 29, 2019, at 7:06 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of South Broad Street and Joseph Street on a report of a Motor Vehicle Crash.

Upon arrival, the driver was found to be suffering from a stab wound to his chest area. Further investigation revealed the victim had been stabbed while in a parking lot on the 500 block of Lalor Street. The victim was then transported by EMS to Capital Health Medical Center Fuld Campus for treatment of the stab wound.

Rhadames Acosta, was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

During the course of their investigation, Hamilton Detectives established probable cause to file charges against Rhadames Acosta, age 31, of the 200 block of Home Avenue, Trenton, N.J, for the stabbing of the victim.

Acosta was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, Acosta was apprehended by the United States Marshall Service and the Hamilton Police Anti-Crime Unit on the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue in Trenton, N.J.

The stabbing incident remains under investigation by the Hamilton Police Division’s Criminal Investigations Section. Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
