May 18: Lawrenceville School graduate and Hamilton Square resident Karen Prihoda was recently named first-team second baseman on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s All-Northeast Region team.

A sophomore at Wagner University, Prihoda batted leadoff and finished third in the Northeast Conference with a regular-season batting average of .399 average, good for 70th in the nation. She led the team in runs (39), hits (61), doubles (14), and stolen bases (23) while slugging .562 for the season.

In the NEC Tournament, Prihoda added three runs on two hits and one double, along with one RBI and two stolen bases. Her 23 stolen bases during the season rank second all-time for a single season in Seahawk history, while her 34 total steals in two seasons are already fourth in Wagner history.

Prihoda became the first Seahawk to be named to two straight All-Conference teams since former Seahawk and current assistant coach Kelsey Parker did in in 2014-15. She is the first Wagner player to be named first-team All-Conference since Andrea Lazzari in 2008-09.
