Hornets Wright excels at county relays right after signing with Rider

Hamilton West senior Isjae Wright took a first- and third-place finish in the Mercer County Relays last Saturday, a few days after she made it official she would continue her academics and track & field career at Rider University. Joining the celebration with Wright, who owns school records in long jump and triple jump, were (front row, from left) Maurice Norwood (step-father), Lai’Ani Laws (Niece), Isjae, Carribia Laws (sister), and Odessa Wallace (mother); back row, Hornet coaches  Anthony “The Mustard King” Funari, Danielle Grady, Gerry Van Slooten, Mike “The Meatball Master”  Papero and Matt Mayo.

Proud product of Hamilton YMCA and Lou Gehrig baseball leagues and former teammate of Jim Maher on a very average Barton & Cooney rec basketball team, Fish graduated from Nottingham Junior High and Steinert High school and has covered township sports since 1980. His goal in life is to convince Maria Prato that Jersey tomatoes are at least 100 times better than California tomatoes.
