Christopher Charles Sunshine Classic

June 29 – Coach Jon “Big Dawg” Adams reminded both squads, “remember who you’re representing, you are representing the kids”. Boy did they represent in the 2018 Sunshine Football Classic in a thriller that came down to the wire with the West squeaking by over the East by a final score of 28 to 20.

Adams was referring to the kids that are helped each and every year by the Mercer County Sunshine Foundation.  The Sunshine Football Classic is an all-star game of recently graduated seniors from Mercer, Burlington, and Hunderton County in which the proceeds are donated to the Sunshine Dreamlift and to a scholarship for the Delaware Valley Chapter of the NFF.

The East Squad which was represented by 27 Hamilton Township players were buoyed offensively by Hamilton West’s Christopher Charles who would score 2 of the 3 touchdowns thrown from his fellow teammate from West, Hezekian Patterson.

Charles was named the East’s Outstanding Offensive Player for his efforts.

Steinert running back Xavier Thompson would add the other TD for the East and rushed for 39 yards in the second half as his team mounted a comeback that would just fall short.

Steinert’s Nick Kloutis was awarded the outstanding lineman for the East as he led the line helping the East running backs rack up the yards on the ground and defended his quarterbacks in the air attack.

The victory by the West Team gives them their 4th straight win.
