May 23: If you were looking for Hamilton Township parity at this year’s Mercer County Track & Field Championships try this on for size.

Each of the three township high schools brought home two gold medals, although in the case of Nottingham it was the same guy doing it twice.

Here’s a look at how each of the six local teams performed at Steinert on May 20.

Madeus puts forth his usual big effort for Nottingham

Instead of losing sleep worrying about the MCT Friday night, Boaz “Superman” Madeus went over to Veterans Park to watch the Northstars baseball team give Jim Maher his 400th win.

The next day, all eyes were on Madeus as he brought home two golds and two silvers as the Northstars finished fifth in team competition.

Superman won both the 400 (48.60) and 400 intermediate hurdles (54.28), while taking second in the 110 high hurdles. He was also on the second-place 4×400 relay team along with Jared Rodriguez, Emilio Selesnick and Godfred Akuffo.

Nottingham took second in the 4×100 behind Javon Jenkins, Christopher Negron, Akuffo and Louis Abpadogo, while Rommy Abouelela also earned a silver medal by finishing second in the pole vault. Taking home a bronze was Kier Jenkins in the discus.

Franklin Sanchez took fifth in the 400 hurdles, while finishing sixth were Alix Oge (110 hurdles), Jon Torres (3200), Daevon Clark (high jump), Zion Bethea (javelin) and Ridge Pierre (shot).

Sasha Louis was the top performer for the Northstar girls, finishing third in the high jump. Bailey Kiernan took sixth in the triple jump, while Brianna Martin, Alijah Dunkins, Chadsity Molder and Louis were sixth in the 4×100.

Hamilton strikes gold with Moore in 100 and White in shot

The amazing Tyler Moore, who did not start running track until his junior year, won his second consecutive MCT gold in the 100 meters, finishing in 10.93.

Moore had company atop the podium as Hamilton West teammate James White won his first gold with a shot put throw of 49-11¼.

Taking second was Jon Piotroski in the javelin and Reidgee DiManche in the triple jump. DiManche’s mark of 43-9½ was just 10 inches shy of West Windsor-North’s John Owens. DiManche also took sixth in the long jump.

Finishing third was the 4×100 relay team of Francis Saydee, DiManche, Javon Porter and Moore.

DeAngelo Hill tied for fourth in the high jump, Richmond Sasha was fifth in the triple jump while Porter (100) and Zach Harding (discus) each took sixth.

For the Hamilton girls, the 4×100 relay team of Dimitria Jones, Isabella Brewer, Alyssa Hill and Ariella Callender finished third, Isjae Wright was fourth in the triple jump and Haley Horvath (100 hurdles) and Callender (pole vault) each had a sixth.

Steinert rules the javelin world behind Angelini and Cooper

Steinert’s Keon “Little Cooperazi” Cooper and Jessica Angelini each won gold medals in javelin at Saturday’s MCT Track & Field meet. (Drawing by Doug “Cooperazi” Cooper).

If you’re looking to win javelin in Mercer County, the road goes through Hamilton Square.

Steinert’s Keon “Little Cooperazi” Cooper unleashed an incredible throw of 182-4 to win the boys javelin competition by over 25 feet. Meanwhile, Jessica Angelini was bringing home gold in girls javelin with a mark of 107-9.

Cooper also took fourth in discus, while teammate Robert Measner was fourth in the shot.

The girls, who finished fifth in the team standings, got impressive efforts from Lauren Miller and Ashley Navarro, as Miller had two silvers and Navarro a silver and bronze. Miller was second in the 1600, and just missed winning the 3200. Her second-place time of 11:19.02 was just 3.14 seconds behind Allentown’s Devon Hoernlein.

Navarro just missed on a couple of golds. Her second-place time of 2:23.16 in the 800 was 1.07 behind Kavya Tummalapalli in the 800. And although finishing third in the 400, she was just 1.21 behind West Windsor’s first-place Brianna Hodges.

Alyssa Scordo took fourth place in javelin, Tatiana Dorner was fifth in triple jump and Samantha Woolf took fifth in the 800.
