Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announces the opportunity to dispose of unneeded and expired prescription drugs during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

The goal is to help local residents to rid their medicine cabinets of unused and easily abused opioid painkillers, in addition to any other unneeded prescription pills.

Mercer County residents can easily dispose of unused and expired prescription pills, by bringing them to the parking lot across from the Mercer County Administration Building at 640 South Broad Street in Trenton, between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. Hypodermic needles or liquid solutions not accepted.

“Look in your medicine cabinet and gather up any unused or expired medications, especially painkillers,” said Sheriff Kemler. Abuse or misuse does not always happen on our streets, sometimes it happens right from your medicine cabinet,” added Kemler.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible method for disposing of unneeded and expired prescription pills. The program held each spring and fall is conducted by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
