Navarro a triple-winner in Steinert’s near-miss girls track loss to Hopewell Valley

The Steinert High girls track & field team had an impressive opening-day showing on Apr. 4, despite falling to Hopewell Valley, 70.5-67.5.

The Spartans had a triple winner in Ashley Navarro (400, 59.8; 800, 2:28; 4×400 relay) and double winners in Tatiana Dorner (100 meters, 13.5; 200, 28.3) and Samantha Woolf (1600, 5:33.5; relay). Other winners for the Spartans were Lauren Miller (3200, 11:29.2), and the 4×400 relay team of Margarita Ivanova, Woolf, Amanda Papamanolis and Navarro (4:30.2)

Taking seconds were freshman Amanda Papamanolis (100, 400), Woolf (800), Emily “Diz” Diszler (discus), Emily Kontrath (pole vault) and Jess Angelini (javelin).

Third-place finishers included Alexis Schulz (400 hurdles, 100 hurdles), Emelyn Castor (100), Aidan Sheehan (1600), Miller (800), Papamanolis (200), Hannah Sangillo (3200), Sara Joralemon (discus, shot) and Alyssa Scordo (javelin). .
