Mar. 19: Kristin “Z” Hallam did a lot of great things as a freshman on the Hofstra University softball team.

One of the few things she did not accomplish, got crossed off the bucket list today.

The greatest player in Nottingham High history and the all-time hits leader in Mercer County history, the sophomore infielder was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Player of the Week after helping the Pride go 4-0 in the St. John’s Invitational this past weekend.

Hallam batted .727 on the weekend, reaching base in 12 consecutive plate appearances. She was 3-for-3 in a 2-0 win against Massachusetts on Saturday before going 4-for-4 with a leadoff home run in a 10-6 win over St. John’s on Sunday. Z finished the weekend with eight hits, a home run, two doubles, four runs, four RBI, two stolen bases and three walks.

It was Hallam’s first Player of the Week award, but definitely not her first collegiate award. Last year the Z-Meister led Hofstra in batting (.378), on-base percentage (.45) hits (62), total bases (73) and stole bases (10). She was an All-CAA second-team selection, earned a berth on the CAA All-Rookie team and was a member of the CAA All-Tournament team.

This year, Hallam is batting .311 with three doubles, a triple, homer and five RBI in helping Hofstra to a 14-7 start.

One thing Fish4scores is unsure of, is whether she has taken her award-winning wrestling statistician skills to Long Island as well.
