The Steinert’s Girls Basketball historic season came to an end at the hands of a near perfect Allentown Lady Redbird’s team falling by a final score of 64 to 30.
The last time the two teams met on January 26, Allentown took a 50-47 victory without its star player Ryan Weise who missed the game with flu. Tonight, Weise was healthy and determined to make her presence felt. Weiss led Allentown with 14 points in the game.
Allentown came out hot going up by 30 points at the half and seemed to have all the answers defensively to stop the Spartan attack of Tatiana Dorner, Natalie Mehl , Erika Golik, Jayda Bing and Leila Colazzo, who were a dominating force in Steinert’s crushing victory over Neptune on Wednesday.
Spartan Erika Golik was the leading scorer with 11 points and played every minute of the game – you read that right…every minute.

The score didn’t reflect the true effort by the Spartans as they made some adjustments at halftime, went on a run closing the gap a bit early in the 3rd quarter.
Despite the score at any part of the game they never gave up right down to the last play.
“I am very proud of these kids and they should be proud of themselves”, explained Steinert coach Kristin Jacobs. “Winning over 20 games and coming this far, they have done something that hasn’t been done in almost 10 years, and Jordan (Jones), Tatiana (Dorner) and Erika (Golik) are going to be missed, but I am so proud of them”
Despite the loss, the season was one for the record books for Steinert as they tallied 21 wins throughout their journey, exceeding all expectations making it to the semifinals of the state tournament and left it all on the court in their final game of the 2017-2018 season.
