Video: Hamilton residents Jake Kmiec, Ryan Mains discuss ND’s stellar baseball season

May 6: Every year there seems to be one or more products from Hamilton Township helping to fuel the Notre Dame baseball team, and this season is no different.

Senior shortstop Ryan Mains and senior centerfielder Jake Kmiec are both township residents and three-year starters for Irish. After today’s 2-0 win over Nottingham in the Mercer County Tournament opening round, Kmiec is hitting .400 with 15 runs scored, 15 RBI and nine stolen bases. He set up the first run and scored the second against the Northstars. Mains is hitting .379 with 17 runs scored and six stolen bases out of the leadoff spot.

The two are both outstanding defensively as well, and have helped the Irish to a 15-1 record, with Hamilton West being their only loss last Friday.

Hamilton’s Ryan Conover, Christian DeLorenzo, Brett Harris, Nick Wilke and Mike McLaughlin are also on the roster along with Gavin Martin, who lives in Bordentown but was a township resident until  recently.

Fish4scores caught up with Kmiec and Mains for a video interview after today’s win, and the duo discussed ND’s strong season to date and their hopes for the county and state tournaments. See the video above.
