Hamilton West played its most exciting game of the year and got its most exciting win today, surviving a late Notre Dame rally for a 2-0 win.

That puts the Hornets at 17-1, a record few people thought possible for such a young team at the season’s outset. But Hamilton has used aggressive baserunning, timely hitting and stellar pitching from young arms like Nate Rodriguez, Nick Diaz and Dave Zamora and veteran arms like Justin Wiltsey and Jason Diaz to produce a school-record 17-game winning streak

Fish4scores caught up with senior second baseman Steve Meckel and junior catcher Connor Luckie – a defensive standout whose bat is coming to life – after today’s win. Click on the video below – which includes a large supporting cast, as you will see — for their thoughts on the Hornets as they ready for Mercer County Tournament play as the second seed on Monday.
