Snapbox Self Storage to open in vacant Cost Cutters Shopping Center

It’s been dormant for the past five years after the Mega Dollar store at the location closed, but Hamiltonians have long noticed “the old Cost Cutters site” struggle to gain occupancy.  But thanks to a recent approval, this noticeable vacancy is primed to be revitalized.

Under a plan that will completely renovate the existing 43,000 square foot building and add over 38,522 square feet in additional space, the Hamilton Township Zoning Board’s approval of a new Snap Box self-storage facility will not only fill a long-vacant site, but will also entail site plans that will aesthetically enhance the appearance of the White Horse-Mercerville Road property and increase its commercial ratables.

“To see that one of our most visible vacancies will be filled is great news; and in the process, this project will help to enhance the appearance of the property and yield us more commercial ratables,” explained Mayor Kelly Yaede.

The plans for the “old Cost Cutters site” may also be good news for the neighboring upper mall property – which is separately owned – and formerly including a ShopRite grocery store.

The new Snap Box project is the second, recent announcement of a revitalization of a vacant site as the site of a former gas station at recently reconstructed White Horse Roundabout, was narrowly approved by the Township Council.  Private developers hope to revitalize that long-vacant site with a super Wawa that could include both a convenience store and a gas station – if an application is ultimately approved by the Hamilton Township Planning Board.
