Souffrant run’s country’s 2nd fastest 800 time and anchors Stars’ winning sprint medley team at Marine Corps Holiday Classic

Dec. 29: If the Marines are looking for a few good men, they had one in their midst in Kenley Souffrant.

The Nottingham High track & field team competed in the Marine Corps Holiday Classic at the Armory in New York City Thursday, and it was a memorable trip for Souffrant. Competing in the 800 meters, Kenley won the race in a time of 1:56.70 at the New Balance Track & Field Center Armory. Souffrant’s mark stands as the No. 2 time in the U.S.

It was the first of two gold medals for Souffrant, who also ran anchor on Nottingham’s first-place sprint medley relay team. The quartet of Boaz Madeus, Godfred Akuffo, David Viah and Souffrant ran a school record 3:35.06.
