Sep. 12: The 12th Man TD Club has begun its selection for Players of the Week, giving out its honors for Week Zero and Week One of the high school football season.
Four Hamilton Township players were honored in the first two weeks representing all three high schools. The township winners are as follows, with comments from their head coach.
Week Zero
Offensive Lineman of the Week
Nick Kloutis, Steinert (Sr., OL)
“Nick had a very good game for us and set the pace for our running game which had over 200 yards (in a loss to Middle Township)” – Steinert head coach Dan Caruso
Defensive Lineman of the Week
Kier Jenkins, Nottingham (Sr., MLB)
“He was all over the field against Allentown — our offense gave up 21 points and special teams seven in that loss. He had 16 tackles, five solos and 11 assisted” – Nottingham head coach Jon “Big Dawg Adams” Adams.
Week One
Defensive Back of the Week
Jake Swindasz, Steinert (Sr., LB)
“Jake was all over the place for us in our game. He had 13 total tackles including three tackles for loss and had an interception in the game as well. He is the heart and soul of our football team” – Dan Caruso
Special Teams Player of the Week
Domonic Cooper, Hamilton West (Jr. K)
A 33-yard game winning field goal as time expired. Four-for-four on extra points in 31-28 win over Lawrence. “I’ve been praying for a kicker for this year and my prayers were answered with this kid” – Hamilton head coach Tom Hoglen.
The other winner from Week Zero was Allentown defensive back X’Zavier Harris. Other Week One winners are Lawrence running back Davon Hemingway, Hun offensive lineman C.J. Williams and Ewing defensive lineman Obiefuna Ezeigbo.
