Dec. 28: First-year Hamilton boys basketball coach Brandon Johnson has brought his motto of WOORRKK from his days as a Nottingham assistant over to West.

So far, it seems to be WOORRKKing out.

The Hornets won their first holiday tournament in five years today by taking a 66-51 victory over Florence in the Florence Tournament at Stem Civics. Hamilton’s last holiday triumph came in the 2014 Bordentown Tournament.

The Hornets beat a tough Northern Burlington team, 61-51, Friday before dominating the Flashes in the title game.

Tobias Prall scored 17 points and earned tournament MVP honors, but Johnson said it was a team effort.

“As a whole our entire team played very well,” he said. “Every game we have someone new stepping up for us in a big way.

“Winning the holiday tournament was nice but we have much bigger goals we set have for ourselves. One of our smaller goals is to constantly get better every day so winning this tournament was a step in the right direction.”

Jack Bouffard had nine points against Florence, Donavin Domine and Maurice Williams had 8 apiece and Dalvin Abreu and Jerel Hall chipped in with 7 each.
