A Hamilton Township man has been charged with death by auto after a 13-year-old boy riding his skateboard was struck and killed early Thursday, July 19th in Hamilton Township.

Mauricio Velastegui, 34, of Hamilton, was driving a 1998 Toyata Rav4 SUV west on Nottingham Way at 12:40 a.m. when he crossed the double yellow line and hit the boy, who was riding along the eastbound curb line, Hamilton police said in a statement.

The Hamilton teen was brought to Capital Health Trauma in Trenton, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash took place near the intersection of Nottingham Way and Gregory Drive in the Hamilton Square section of the township, police said.
