West offensive surge helps them top crosstown rival Nottingham.

The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Hamilton West came out on top against Nottingham, 11-6.

The Hornets got on the board in the first inning. David Zamora grounded out, scoring one run.

Hamilton would score three more runs in the sixth inning.  Their big inning was driven by singles by Steven Meckel and Kiefer Goss and a double by Tyler Springett.

Nottingham scored three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Nottingham was led by Jake Fanning and Wyatt Baker, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Justin Wiltsey took the win for Hamilton. He went four innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out eight. Mike Neilsen and Tyler Solymosi entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Rob Benntt took the loss for Nottingham. He went four innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and striking out four.

Hamilton Hornets Varsity 2019 racked up 13 hits. Goss, Danilo Perdomo, Bryce Egan, and Meckel each had multiple hits for Hamilton Hornets Varsity 2019.

Goss led Hamilton West with three hits in three at bats.
